Extensive Global Demand
For Quality Nursing Care
The internationally recognized standard ratio
of doctor to nurse is 1: 2.5 (which means for every
two doctors, a hospital needs 5 nurses) Today, to
fulfill this ratio, the USA alone requires a large
number of nurses. And the demand for quality nursing
in the U.K., Middle East, Far East, Singapore, Australia
and other countries is increasing phenomenally.
Today there are about 168,000 vacant hospital positions
across the nation, and 75 percent of those vacancies
are registered nurse positions. The nursing shortage,
already serious, is expected to worsen in the coming
years. The U.S. Department of Labor predicts the U.S.
will be 434,000 nurses short by the year 2020. Other
government figures estimate that figure will be closer
to 1.1 million.
